I was lucky enough to spot that Maidstone United were leading 1-0 at half time at Ipswich (who are 98 places higher in the English league system) so saw the gripping second half, as Ipswich equalised and then Maidstone scored what proved to be the winner. Hence the title of my blip is in recognition of the non-league side, rather than the more famous Manchester club - whose mascot is a red devil.

Earlier I'd taken Django on a long walk in sunny weather - down the old railway, through Roslin, and then along another old railway to the bypass and over to the retail park at Straiton to get a bus home. Under the bypass, I admired the new graffiti - and added another as an extra.

After watching the football, I did the grocery shopping and chilled before we headed into Edinburgh for dinner at a friend we've known for almost 30 years, and saw a lot of when our children were small, but haven't seen since before the pandemic. Comparing notes on our four 20-24 year-olds: she has one that seems issue-free, but one who is dealing with more than either of our girls. We discovered that this was one reason we'd not seen much of her for a while. It was good to catch up generally, too.
