Rapid Bay

we went for a huge Sunday drive today, down through the Fleurieu Peninsula to Victor Harbour, then across the peninsula to the western coast. This was ostensibly to scout for camping grounds for later.
I decided to visit Rapid Bay, as I had memories of family camping trips there as a child.
This strange little place is (was) a mining port for gypsum. The place is no longer in operation as a mining port, so all the lovely 1930's to mid-century company houses are no longer occupied, but are still all there, lawns mowed, tidy, but very down at heel. Whole streets completely deserted.
Contrast that with the beachside, which was seething with people camping, fishing, or picnicking.
Behing the town are huge bare rolling hills that plunge down to the cliffs and the sea.
Oh, and there's a massive big cave at the far end of the beach. (see the extras)
