Seasick

Two of the fourteen of us meeting at Sem Fim tonight. Laughing because one person kept getting up to straighten the painting of waves on the wall behind (painted by her husband), but all she accomplished was to leave the painting swaying until I, looking at it every time I spoke to these two, was literally feeling a bit seasick.

Not so funny was being stopped by two very young policemen on our way out of Mourão, who were determined to find something wrong. First of all, saying our high viz jackets weren't authorised by Portugal (then seeing the label saying they were), and then pouncing on the fact that the car document says our car is "green and others", when it's more of a metallic greyish colour. Would you believe they have fined us €130 for wrong documents, and impounded our car from 11:45pm tonight, effectively making it impossible to get the document changed at the Transport place in Évora, an hour away - unless we pay to get it towed there. Plus, confiscated the car document, which might get to Évora by Wednesday, before which we presumably can do nothing. Just crazy.

Gratefuls:
- that we don't have anything urgent we need the car for, though we won't be able to get the fence posts to close the gap Jaime has made in our stone walls till it's sorted
- friends who care and are trying to help
- that at least they allowed us to have our meal at Sem Fim (and visit B&G)
