On This Day In History
1990: The first McDonald's opens in Moscow

Quote Of The Day
"You're having trouble finding work? Here's what my father would say, in a voice that comes right out of the Great Depression: Don't tell me there's no work ..... There's always work. Go find it."
(George Cohon, C.E.O McDonald's of Canada)

I got up at midnight for a wee and I couldn't open the toilet door. The locking mechanism was broken. V and K tried. No luck. All I can say is, thank goodness for the shower unit. And constipation.

A repairman came out at 10:00 and sawed the barrel off the lock, then removed the door handle. He has been a carpenter for thirty years and he said he has never before seen a door handle or lock like ours. We should be getting a new toilet door and front room door in a few days' time (the front room in this photo currently has the handle that was on the toilet door when we moved into the flat in 1998; my father-in-law removed it from the toilet then because it didn't work and we didn't require a lock on the fron room door.)

So, until we receive our new doors, we need to hold the toilet door closed with a piece of string when it is occupied.

First World problems, right?

Please note my restraint in making any cheap jokes about faeces and McDonald's.

Rock And Roll McDonald's (there is a ten hour version of this on YouTube, if you are interested.)
