Champagne anyone?

Had a great evening on an 'eat and walk' tour in Edinburgh this evening. We started out in the Hotel du Vin, which is situated in Edinburgh's Old Town.
The site of the hotel dates back to the eightieth century when it was used as a sanctuary for the mentally unstable, it's most notable patient being the poet Robert Fergusson. He suffered from depression and consequently died in a fall somewhere in the complex when he was just 24.
Since then the structure has proved to be quite versatile, finding a use as a science lab during the World Wars and Edinburgh's Blood Donation Centre up until the early nineties.
The photo is of the champagne tasting room (posh or what!) but unfortunately we only got to have a brief look in before heading off to the next place. It was a really great evening and something completely different.
