YUM! YUM! LUNCHTIME

This is an Aruba Island Rattlesnake (Crotalus unicolor);  it is a venomous pit viper species endemic to the Caribbean island of Aruba, off the coast of Venezuela. This one lives in the zoo in Milwaukee. It's about to dine on a white rat....I doubt it eats white rats in its native habitat but it certainly preys on smallish, warm-blooded mammals, as well as birds and lizards.

It is among the most rare rattlesnakes in the world. It is found only on the island of Aruba and there's only a couple hundred left in the wild.
