WHY ARE THEY CALLED CATKINS?

Catkin is derived from the Dutch word katteken, which means kitten, since the flowers look like fluffy kitten tails. They're also known as lamb's tails for the same reason, and this name has a stronger association with the onset of spring.

I tried to take a photo of some catkins today but it was so windy my camera wouldn't focus on them. So I brought a few home and set up a still life. So here is today's blip.

I hope your all well and safe and having a great Saturday.
