No longer swinging

We took the train a little way, to Southease, then followed the River Ouse to call in on  our daughter who was working in Newhaven today. We then completed the circuit, climbing up above the coast and through the fields home. Tonight going to our running club awards night, buffet and disco. Not that we are getting any awards....before you ask!
Blip : Southease Swing Bridge, heavily edited. All photos I took were rather dull as it was so grey today. It really didn't seem to get properly light.

The bridge was built in 1880 to link Southease parish which was divided by a 'cut' in the Ouse in 1791 to improve river flow . Seagoing barges stopped travelling through when the chalk pit closed in 1967 so it no longer needed to open.
