Hawk

Walking this morning a hawk was kind enough to stay put while I took pictures but none was in great focus. One flat out looks completely fake, like I did a terrible job cutting and pasting. I like this better than the pictures of the cardinal and woodpecker.

There was a drone strike in Volgograd. Russia repelled it but somehow a fire still broke out at the oil refinery (one of the drones fell). The refinery is 200 miles from the border with Ukraine. Russian state news said there were no injuries or deaths.

On Wednesday there was another drone attack and although Russia used a surface-to-air missile to intercept it but it still flew another 20 miles. It successfully caused another explosion at another oil refinery. This was in St. Petersburg which makes people wonder where it was launched from because that is so far from Ukraine, and whether it was launched from inside Russia.

There have been other strikes hitting Russian oil facilities with sites in Krasnodar, Bryansk, Oryol, and Leningrad

As part of attacking Russia’s energy infrastructure Ukraine has been going after fuel transport vehicles. The Ukrainian defense ministry claims to have destroyed or damaged 937 fuel cars and cisterns in January.

Ukrainian Air Force spokesperson Yuriy Ignat said that Ukraine hit at least three Russian aircraft in a strike on the Belbek airbase in Crimea.
