Mostly Six Five Oh

Sunday morning

Sunday morning.  Scary weather over Saturday night as the Pineapple Express made landing.  We weren't sure if we'd have power when we woke up, but amazingly we did.  Various preparations were made including to make sure we'd brewed coffee so we'd not be without this morning - priorities!  We spent a wary Saturday night listening to the creaks and shiftings of the building, things that weren't battened down outside moving around.  Found one of my larger plants (cordyline) had toppled over and crushed a bunch of other plants underneath, but otherwise unscathed.

Watched as the hummingbirds still manage to make it to the feeders - the nectar is some pretty important fuel to them - how are they able to fly in these conditions?  Amazing.  I put extra feeders out on the corners of a table well under the cover of the balcony where it's even more sheltered and there have been a lot of visitors, especially in the lulls between torrents and mph winds.  A couple extras, there are 3 birds in each of them, so you might have to look carefully for the birds on their path coming in for landing as they are hard to see with the trees/house behind them.

The sequoias do their dance in the wind as things ramp up into to Sunday evening's next round which is going to be far worse.  We'll see how things are looking Monday morning...
