Life in Newburgh on Ythan

There's been another massacre!

The local oystercatchers have been causing mayhem among the  mussel population.  The scene of utter destruction inevitably put me in mind of an Aberdeen University graduation ceremony back in the year 2000. It is a tale that I have told before but perhaps worth the repeating.

At the ceremony an honorary Doctorate of Laws was bestowed upon Helena Ann Kennedy, Baroness Kennedy of The Shaws QC. During the ceremony Baroness Kennedy gave to the new graduates a most inspiring address during which she advised that they should never lose their Scottish accents. Her own had served her well and she recounted how during one criminal trial at the Old Bailey the judge had remarked, with much rolling of his Rs in the Scottish manner, "Miss Kennedy, when you talk of murder it sounds like a massacre!"
