Wildlife...

Fletcher and I spent a couple of hours walking, taking photos and sniffing (Fletch, not me) at Kanapaha Botanical Gardens this morning. I was hoping to spot a serpent or two sunning themselves, but no luck there. The birds were certainly out and about though! A beautiful Great Egret fastidiously dried and paid loving attention to each and every one of her lovely feathers.  And, in the *extra...an Anhinga struck a pose while taking time to dry and oil its feathers in the warm sun. A juvenile Pied-billed Grebe spent a while diving into the still water, no doubt hunting for its favorite food...everything! They reportedly consume just about any living thing they can catch. And, like other grebes, will even eat feathers, which they also feed to their young.
The happily sunning turtle is a Cooter. A fun morning at the Gardens!
