Our last day in Weymouth before heading home.
The light was amazing as we took a last walk along the sea front to the Langham Hotel. Back in the 1950s (before I was even thought of), my parents and my siblings used to stay here for their summer holiday.
Then it was back to the car and we set of for Chesil Beach. There was a large group of students and, when we'd got to the top of the ridge to where they were conducting a survey, we understood why they looked so miserable - the wind was strong enough to take your breath away and nearly knocked us over! We didn't stop long but headed to the visitor centre, which was closed due to a power cut.
Our next planned stop on the way home was at Kimmeridge Bay. We tried 2 different routes there but both were blocked off due to live firing exercises on the ranges. So instead we had a quick break in Corfe Castle (the village, not the castle).
We set off again with the intention of visiting the café at Compton Abbas airfield near Shaftesbury (now owned by Guy Ritchie, the film director) but that too was shut so we gave up and drove home.
