today's another day

I attended an event this morning  at Hopwood Hall College, Rochdale. A surprise speaker, an unadvertised speaker, was this guy - Greater Manchester Mayor, Andy Burnham.

I've heard Andy speak on a number of occasions and he's always interesting to listen to. A man of ideas, and always looking to better Manchester and its 10 boroughs. Today's meeting had an educational slant, looking at T-levels, a technical equivalent of A-Levels.

He sees these as a route to provide a different learning experience into the workplace, rather than Uni - but one that has an equal footing.

The thinking and the reasoning behind these and a Manchester Baccalaureate is great and something I as an employer can get behind and benefit from.

So often politicians seem bereft or ideas.

Andy used the word heft to describe the involvement of some big players, employers, in the T-level process. I think he's one of the few in his profession who has some of his own. Hopefully he gets to carry on in May, at the next election.
