Reflections on the Glamorganshire canal

Snow in some places but in South Wales we’ve just had solid rain.
The Glamorganshire canal was opened in 1794 and during the 19th century it played an essential part in the export of coal and iron from Merthyr through the port of Cardiff. In the last 100 years, the canal has almost disappeared and overbuilt by road and urban development. In Cardiff city centre the canal running under Churchill Way has been exposed in a pedestrianised development. The blip shows part of this development with floating rafts that light up at night and are reflected in the water and glass panels lining the canal.
