Castlemilk Stables

Stables dating from the 18th century possibly by architect David Hamilton for the Stewart family who lived in the nearby Castlemilk House (demolished in 1969). B listed. The stables were restored in 2007 by Glasgow Building Preservation Trust (GBPT) and Castiltoun Housing Association for community use. The architects were Elder and Cannon.
The oak fireplace was saved when the House was demolished. It depicts the Siege of Orleans in 1429 where Sir William Stewart of Castlemik and his brother, Sir John, both died in the service of the Dauphin who later became King Charles VII of France.
See extra for more information on the fireplace.
No sun today. No snow or rain but very cold.
