Books

A Library morning .. a privilege of being a Trustee of the NLS Foundation is getting to see 'behind the scenes'  (actually, I suspect anyone who is a reader could ask for a tour, but you have to know how to ask ..). Having been in the reading rooms, I wanted to see the stacks .. many floors of metal shelving, where the books are organised by size, placed and retrieved by hand from requests submitted in the reading rooms. These volumes were in a corner because they are a peculiar size ..
In extra, a map book in the Treasures exhibition, the Bleau atlas 1654, open at the map of Lothian and Linlitquo.

I bought a copy of 'Scotland: Mapping the Nation' (Chris Fleet et al) .

Rather cold out; frost on cars in the morning, East wind. It warmed up a couple of degrees later on, enough for rain. Out again in the evening to a wine tasting in Stockbridge at Appelation; the proprietor is very knowledgeable, some of the other attendees had learned the wine tasting lingo well and carried their online history of what they had tasted before that was similar with them. Potentially interesting people; I went because my neighbour wanted company and might go again.
