Camellia.

A welcome display of colour in late winter/early spring, camellia bushes can last 100 - 200 years, which is somewhat short of one in a Chinese monastery, said to be planted in 1347. I wouldn't like to be the gardeners responsible for its upkeep.
Extras: The birds and the bees. The former certainly has attitude, though the latter is sadly wet.

Many thanks, as always, to BikerBear for hosting.
