A grand building ...

... that was converted to flats in 2002 having been Langside College since 1947 but was built in 1867 as the Institution for the Deaf and Dumb . It was designed by Glasgow architects Salmon, Son and Ritchie in the French Gothic style and is B listed. It has several carvings including a bat and an owl. There is a roundel on either side of the main entrance. I think the left one is James White, lawyer and chemical manufacturer who was the Chairman of the Institution.  On the right is probably Alexander Dunlop Anderson, President of the Faculty of Surgeons in Glasgow, who was the physician to the Institution.
