Second fiddle to Windsor Castle

The blip is Caerphilly Castle taken from Caerphilly Mountain (more of a hill). Nestled in the middle of Caerphilly, the castle was built by the one of the Marcher Lords, Gilbert de Clare, beginning in 1268, to counter the threat of Llewellyn ap Gruffudd, the Welsh Prince. It occupies a site of 30 acres and is the second largest castle in the UK. It really is impressive, not only because of its size but also because of its intricate water defences of moats and lakes. It also has its own leaning tower that leans more than Pisa. I’m not sure that this long range shot in B&W does it justice but I will blip some closer views in the future.
