In the line of fire

We had a trip out to Dumbarton Castle this morning, it’s only about 25 mins away from us. Although we have been before, I don’t remember the area to be so big with lots of sets of steep stone steps to climb to the various battlements. It is built on a rock at the meeting of the Clyde and Leven rivers and has canons facing in all directions in case of invasion. The kayakers below may not have been aware of what was looming above them.
