River Devon Gorge

The river Devon rises in the Ochil Hills and runs through Glendevon, turning sharply south west at Crook of Devon before flowing below the Ochils to enter the Forth at Cambus near Alloa. For the first time today I walked a stretch of the river starting at Pool of Muckhart. The walk passed through an interesting landscape with good views to the hills and some lovely lengths of riverside path. The highlight however is the gorge on the river near Rumbling Bridge where the water drops a considerable height in a series of cascades. Although not in spate today it was quite spectacular but should be even more so after heavy rain and when the trees are less lush.I think a return visit in the autumn is a distinct possibility.
Rumbling Bridge is a double bridge, the lower one dating from the 1700s , the upper constructed in the 1800s
