Walk in the woods and trip to
the scrapyard.. seems right!!

Lovely engineer mended our internet this morning. Very pleased. Then we planned a walk in the woods. We packed a bag, filled up the oil in the car and (vital to the story..) forgot to screw the cap back on before we drove off. Inevitably, then smelled oil, opened bonnet and the whole engine was soaked in oil with no sign of the cap anywhere. We sat by the road calling garages for a while, nice people kept stopping and someone suggested the scrapyard in Carlisle.. called them and they thought they could help so Mr KCNQ2Haiku was dispatched on foot to the nearest town centre to buy more oil, cling film, an elastic band and some kitchen roll! Just a normal shopping trip! We filled up oil, secured the oil cap gap thing with the cling film and elastic band, mopped up what we could and made it to the scrap yard where they have given us a good enough substitute from a different car. Grateful, but nightmare experience. Arrived home to find old oil filler cap on pavement in four pieces.. One of those days :-/
Photo was an old beech tree in the woods before we’d smelled the oil and when the world was less complicated :-D
