Boat House

Swimming is the best exercise for a sore foot so I joined my chums for the regular Monday night dip. This is one of the original boathouses at Fell Foot, a relic of its heyday as a gentleman's sporting estate. The boat houses dating back to about 1854 are the only buildings left . They were restored with a Heritage Lottery grant by the National Trust after they took over the park in 1969.

As for the swimming - the water temperature was 6.2ºC slightly less than the 6.5º air but the water it felt warmer because of the wind. We were only in for about 10 mins-
