The Old Broadford Works

Running late tonight.
It's been a busy day of graduations
and saying goodbye to retiring colleagues .
Quick shot of the old Broadford works from the bottom of Rosemount.
Time for bed.

Since 2009, the princes regeneration trust have been working to restore this vast industrial site for the benefit of Aberdeen. It is the largest collection of Category A Listed buildings at risk in Scotland. The earliest building (1808) is the oldest iron-framed mill in Scotland and the fourth oldest in the world.

The buildings are in extremely poor condition and have suffered a great deal from vandalism and dereliction. They sit as a blight on the Aberdeen skyline, sitting synonymous and symbolising a wider industrial and economic decline in the area.

A planning application for the regeneration of the site was made in November 2011 and has now been approved. The proposed plan will restore the site into a mixed-use vibrant accessible space at the heart of Aberdeen.
