Inspire Me

I was going to do a home blip today. In fact, I was feeling quite uninspired.

But then the clouds started rolling in, and they looked quite good, so I nipped into town to get a photo of them with something interesting in the foreground.

This is the spire of Chalmers Church, which was opened in September, 1904. It was designed by J.S Turnbull, and has a Historic Places Trust Category 2 listing.

The church is going to be sold, as there are too many churches and not enough worshippers, apparently. It may be demolished, as whoever buys the church will be faced with a $1 million bill to earthquake strengthen it.

It's a real shame.

I've edited the image a bit (really?!), to make it look a bit more atmospheric.
