Bus Challenge No 203

St Peter and St Paul’s Church, Shepton Mallet - Shepton Snowdrop Festival

With Dad safely off to day care, a spur of the moment decision to head off to Shepton Mallet. Trundled my way on the bus, changing buses at Midsomer Norton, through the country lanes and villages of Somerset, and over the Mendip hills to Shepton where the town was holding a Snowdrop Festival. Didn’t have long there but visited the church and joined the end of the Ash Wednesday service, enjoyed the Snowdrops in the churchyard, wandered around the 500 year old Market Cross and did a spot of shopping in a lovely craft cooperative shop.

To be honest, the Snowdrops were rather disappointing but the town itself was interesting and I really enjoyed the bus journey and countryside scenery. Also managed to do some seasonal shopping covering Valentines Day, Easter, birthdays and Christmas!

The weather was also interesting, an unseasonal 14 degrees varying between grim and murky, drizzle, sunshine and thick foglike low cloud over the Mendips.

In extras, Shepton Market Cross and other scenes from around the town.

Bus journey time = 2hr 16mins
Waiting between buses time = 36mins
Total bus journey time = 2hr 52mins

Thank you for your stars for camera shy Cyril.
