Now, as I see it......

Lumberjacks at work

The tree surgeons have been at it again.  Walking up through the woods for my newspaper this morning I noticed that this tree had been cut down.  I'm no expert but the centre of the tree looks rotten to me so clearly it had to go, especially as it is right next to a footpath through the wood.  I did wonder how it had been identified for felling; as far as I can tell there were no external signs of rot that I could see but no doubt there was something obvious to the experts.

I was pleased to see that, like other prunings in the wood, the tree had been cut up into logs and a large amount of it had been stacked nearby to slowly disintegrate and provide a home for all the woodland bugs.
