On the prowl

Today we had lunch with old friends in a national park on the northern outskirts of Sydney. This Lace Monitor (Goanna) was wandering around the picnic area, hoping to find food scraps. It was about 1 metre long, happy for me to get fairly close, but with no inclination to pose for a photo.
