Black Gold

Only six of us tonight for a low key celebration of our friend Cathy’s 70th. The other 5 of us all know what it’s like being 70 (or more) so we decided on the Black Gold restaurant in the thriving metropolis of Wallerawang - good food, great value but unpretentious.
Not only is it a restaurant but a motel and a mining museum, reflecting the history of the Lithgow/Portland/Wallerawang area just west of the mountains.
This character stands in the middle of the dining room and also appears on the front of the menu just so nobody forgets what has sustained these communities for nearly 200 years.
