Female Brambling

I took a few photos this morning before the rain set in for the day. The garden birds are all looking splendid at the moment. I love the subtle colours and beautiful patterns on this little female chaffinch, she is very pretty.

* Update : many thanks to Diane2014 for pointing out that this is probably a female Brambling and not a Chaffinch! Having checked my bird guide, I am sure she is correct and I am delighted that we have one, or hopefully more in the garden this  winter.
