London

Major engineering works on another route - alternative routes to/from London will be extremely busy…….understatement of the year!

First stop Paul at Covent Garden for an apple pastry and a cuppa. Westminster to catch the boat to Greenwich, an interesting hour learning about the various buildings and wharfs.

A wander up the hill to the Royal Observatory, the Naval College below with Canary Wharf in the distance. A look around Greenwich Market followed by lunch next to the Cutty Sark.

I walked under the River Thames along the foot tunnel, only to find the DLR station at the other end closed. First time on a red London bus to Canary Wharf.

Next stop Bond Street followed by Liberty, looked at the beautiful flowers near the entrance. Biscoff milkshake and fries in Five Guys on Argyll Street to continue the healthy eating for the day :)

Oxford Circus station was closed, a wander to Piccadilly to catch the final tube to St Pancras.

Queues the length of the station, queue rage, lots of shouting at staff and we saw Rodney (Patrick Mower) from Emmerdale just to add to the fun.

I managed to get a seat on the train home, a lot of people had to stand. Chatted to two men from Sheffield, one was perched on my table. He was off to the Caribbean next week - lucky him!

A wonderful day in London town, only marred by the overcrowded train journeys, very claustrophobic being close to so many strangers.
