Ulva

Took a water taxi over to Ulva Island, just 10 minutes from Golden Bay.

Ulva is a bird-lovers paradise. Active predator-eradication has allowed the avian population to thrive. Spent 3.5 hours walking the trails and hearing more birds than we saw. The one exception was the Stewart Island white-breasted robin  - friendly, bouncing around us. The flighty fantails and elusive melodic tuis would not stay still long enough to be in our bird gallery.
