Exploring

The friend who was staying with me went back to Gatwick.

Another friend I know from previous visits was going into town for some errands so I joined her.

Near to the Legislative Assembly is a charming little chapel which is rarely open. We popped in and the lady in control told us to hurry up and get to the Cathedral as they were illuminating the ceiling but it would only be going on for another ten minutes.

Of course we obeyed. ( no choice really)

The dramatic ceiling was restored not long ago and is magnificent.
The ceilings, all in Mudejar style, were restored between 2019 and 2021. It has won awards for its importance and contribution to cultural heritage. They are certainly magnificent (extra)

She was right to encourage us to pause and admire (although I wasn’t aware of a great deal of difference in the lighting.)

We finished the chores, succumbed to a magnificent Uacaucau chocolate and then discovered an amazing locals spot for a stunning (and cheap) snack in a place buzzing with atmosphere.

Quite a day - and it’s still barely afternoon.

My blip was taken as we walked through the covered walkway between the Royal Savoy and the Savoy Palace ( and I have yet to Google and find out more about these plants.)
