Anybody home?

We were in the garden this morning evening. I planted potatoes, broccoli and cabbage, beets, dill, and snapdragons! I was thrilled to see the little nuthatches preparing their nest again!
The extra shows something strange. This chipping sparrow has something on its neck. I think it’s a large tick! I guess he couldn’t reach this spot to remove it, poor baby. It looks pretty engorged so it will soon fall off. I know it’s itchy, though!
