Sailing ships

I like the quiet busyness of marinas. The chinks and chimes of bits of metal hitting off things I don't know the names of, the creaking of ropes and rubber doo daas and the lapping of water against hulls.

The Kirkwall marina was visited today by lots of big yachts on the North Sea Triangle sailing event. They'll also be calling at Den Helder in the Netherlands and Farsund in Norway. I wonder if any other blippers have seen, or will see them pass by?

The haar lifted yesterday and once more we are basking in sunshine. A day doing a bit of this and that followed by an evening cycle across the barriers for some and a spot of fishing for others rounded things off nicely.

Island living can be really tough you know.
