Knife angel

The bus pass walkers went into Leeds today to see the Knife Angel. This sculpture, standing 27ft tall, is crafted from 100,000 knives surrendered and collected by the police from across the UK.  It has toured the UK since 2017 to highlight the negative effects of violent behaviour and the need for change. Featuring messages from families of victims of knife crime, it also acts as a striking memorial designed to celebrate those lives who have been lost. It is the National Monument Against Violence and Aggression, and was created by the artist Alfie Bradley.
A very powerful sculpture but rather a strange juxstaposition with it standing outside the Royal Armories Museum containing exhibits showing the many and various ways human beings have injured and killed others over the years.
