Our last sovereign Queen.

Mary, Queen of Scots, 1542-1587.

There never was a public statue of Mary, Queen of Scots, in the country of her birth, until 2015. Quite shameful really.

The statue at Linlithgow Palace where she was born, is adjacent St Michael’s Parish Church where she was baptised, (as was our grandson on 3 December 2023).

She became Queen at the age of 6 days; her life story in France and Scotland is well documented. She was a prisoner in England for her last 20 years, until executed on the orders of her cousin, Queen Elizabeth I.

The lovely bronze statue was made at Powderhall Foundry in Edinburgh.
