a lifetime burning

Fisher King

It's always a joy to see a Kingfisher within photographable distance, even if he was barely within that distance.

At first he chose to perch elsewhere in the sapling, and was inconveniently obstructed by intervening branches.  The wind was moving things around a fair bit so I was praying that I'd get a shot that at least showed his head, but then just as desperation was starting to set in, he moved to this perch.  He didn't stay long, and he didn't fish (I suspect that the conditions aren't good for fishing just at the moment), but he made my day.
