Butterflies and wildflowers ..

Although the term has ended, our bird group chap runs occasional 'specials', and today was one of those.

It should have been an hour drive to the reserve, but the traffic was appalling and those of us who took the M62 arrived very late .. and the directions we'd been given weren't great, so several of us asked the same poor lady, walking her dog in the nearby village for directions!

It's a really lovely place - a haven of wildflowers and butterfly friendly plants .. the sun came and went as did the breeze, but we saw a few butterflies - I'd like to go back a bit later in the year for another look.

We walked a very long way - partly because they circular walk we thought we were on turned out to be a straight walk, so we had to retrace our steps!

An afternoon of practising for the weekend and domestic bits and bobs ..
