Dad had TheBigOp today. It was seven hours of worry for us sitting there waiting, but when he re-appeared from theatre Mum was knocked sideways by how much he looked like his old self again.

The next few days will be tough going and really test his mettle but seeing him raise his smile in the high dependency unit this afternoon really was something.

Dad, when you get round to reading this you'll already know how proud I am of you. I always have been, but never so much as I was today. Love you loads big man.
