Sign of spring

Went to an open rehearsal of a string orchestra. They had had a study day and had invited friends and family to hear the results. They played Vivaldi Four Seasons with seven different soloists, one or two for each movement; Barber, adagio for strings, which always makes me think of the Vietnam war but currently Ukraine and Gaza and the horror, shame and loss; Beethoven slow movement from Piano sonata no 5, and an Elgar piece. It was a real treat, not perfect but enjoyable to watch musicians enjoying their craft! Jonathan Hurdle, our church choir music director organises these one off study days and there is an offering at the end for those who wish to contribute to the organ restoration fund.

On my way back home I looked over the wall and saw these catkins, harbingers of spring which cannot be far away!
