Out and About

Beacon Hill

I'd seen "intothehIlls" posting this cross quite a few times and finally worked out where it was.. Decided it was on a suitable walking route for the Tuesday crowd so we came out today to recce the route and check out Orton cafe. And there were 4 geocaches up here on the hills, A good day out.
The  monument was built by a local self taught sculptor John Bland to commemorate Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee.  And as this spot is a beacon hill, a fire was duly lit on 21 June 1887 by locals from the parishes all around.
