Leura's First Cascade

See LARGE. Stand UP CLOSE.

Okay the weather still looks miserable out there but we are now getting decent periods when it isn't actually raining. I am determined to visit as many popular Blue Mountains' waterfalls as I can while the flow in our hundreds of creeks and streams is still reasonably full.

Unfortunately, seeing some of the biggest waterfalls, involves arduous treks up and down steep slopes. To make matters worse, the tracks themselves are pretty boggy right now and it is difficult to get far without sodden socks & shoes, blisters etc There are, however, some quite respectably swollen falls which are able to be reached without difficulty. Over the next few days I am going to shoot as many of them as I can manage. Hope you like the tour.

The "Cascades" is a series of falls along Leura Creek as it winds and trickles its course, through gorgeous temperate rainforest, toward a final spectacular plunge into the Jamison - as seen in that mural of Harry Phillip's picture that I showed you recently. I posted a pic of the Third Cascade in its wonderful grotto only the other day. Above is Leura's First and most accessible Cascade in pretty healthy flow.
