Magnolia Triptych

This morning’s sunshine takes us out, unsure quite where we’ll go. It’s a case of looking at the clouds and deciding our best option, which seems to be up the Conwy valley. There’s snow on the tops of the Carneddau, but we decide against investigating further as the skies look dark towards the higher mountains, turning instead to Bodnant Gardens.

It’s wonderful in spring - well, it’s wonderful right through the year. The winter garden still offers up its secrets, gorgeous hellebores hiding their dewy heads with early tiny daffodils and irises emerging here and there. Elsewhere, camellias blossom into life alongside early pink rhododendrons, and leafless magnolias are heavy with their furry mouse-like buds just bursting into life.

Thanks so much for your lovely comments, stars and hearts for yesterday’s Daddy Time - all very much appreciated. The news today continues to be positive I’m pleased to say, though we’re not sure whether Lili enjoyed her first experience as a Welsh rugby supporter! Congratulations to Ireland - and to Scotland. Although we lost, most Welsh supporters are just pleased that our youngsters performed so well on the whole, and relieved that the victory margin wasn’t greater.

My main today’s a triptych of some of Bodnant’s magnolias, with some hellebores and spring colour in extras.
