Fixed(ish)

My Canon M5 with the repaired base plate back on the camera and an L plate (made for the M5) fitted which I am hoping will spread out any loads and relieve any stress on the glued joints.

I decided to go for this super simple approach rather than risk getting the glue or any epoxy filler into somewhere it shouldn't be. I may have to forgo using the capture plate mount, but if the camera survives for a few more years that will be fine.

Should get a chance to try it tomorrow.  Gill's sister and her husband are here with us for a couple of days.  He is recovering from surgery for bowel cancer so we'll be taking things very easily.

Oh Italy - so close .....
