Portobello Beach Edinburgh Day 302

If you go down to the Porty Prom today you may be in for a big surprise!
Has fracking already begun to takes its toll on the structure of the promenade?
Is this the tennis world surface reacting to the news that Roger Federer was beaten yesterday in only the second round of Wimbledon.
Or is it the surface of a giant chocolate cake helping fuel our nation's obesity epidemic?

None of the above! It is a low level view along the promenade with the railings to the seaward side, left, and the blue screening on the heras fencing that borders the building site, on the right, where 73 new homes are being built. The archeologists are still scampering about among the remains of the old Portobello Harbour before their "find" is cemented over to become part of the foundations of the new flats. The promenade will need some signifcant repair work if it is not to collapse into itself. These cracks are growing bigger every day.
