Seal Moult

A Seal wardening shift at Horsey Beach on the east coast.  A sunny but cool day brought loads of visitors to the beach. We are there to protect the seals and answer questions about them.

They are hauled up on the beach because they are moulting, getting rid of their old coat and growing a new oily one.  This takes about 4 weeks  before they head back into the sea for the summer, feeding and preparing for another breeding season in the autumn.
