Bangladeshi veggie dinner

Last night we treated Chloe and Graham to a lovely veggie meal at a local Bangladeshi restaurant. The appam we had is made with fermented rice batter made with coconut milk and looks like a Sri Lankan egg hopper, minus egg. We shared tasty biryani veg. Chloe had ash plantain with aubergines, the chaps had vegetable Ishtu and I had Chole Masala. Our starter was a delicious chilli paneer and also some okra. We waddled home.

Today we had a chilled morning chatting about politics, and their forthcoming Vietnam trip - Chloe’s son’s partner is Vietnamese so they are going to meet her family in Hanoi plus do tourist stuff. Graham is going to get Valium as he gets very stressed flying. They usually go by train in Europe which they’ll do to Germany in July.

The 15 minute walk to the tube was fine then it was Kings Cross for our fast train to Newcastle - under 3 hours. There was a metro straight away so we were at Gosforth by 4.15 to pick up the car. Luke says his dad is doing really well but will need chemo and radiotherapy. He’s on steroids which they hope will also help. They don’t know yet what type of brain tumour it is.

I have the first lot of washing on and we are going to have a G&T and relax. It was a great trip with lots to interest us but it was a shame it was so cold - as was London today.
