In the footsteps of a famous writer

This afternoon I walked along Darn walk made famous by R.L. Stevenson : ( see extra)

“In a letter dated 17 November 1868 he wrote nostalgically about walking along the Darn Walk in Bridge of Allan:

“I shall never forget the days at Bridge of Allan; they were one golden dream”.

I was photographing the cave (see extra) believed to be the inspiration for Tom Gunn’s cave in Treasure Island when a young couple with boisterous dogs approached. One dog almost knocked me over and they apologised. So, I explained I was photographing the cave and asked if they had heard of R.L. Stevenson. (see extra- spot them in the distance).

Both burst out laughing.
 No, never.”
